An extremely versatile metal. C280 “Muntz Metal” (named for George Muntz, a metal roller from Birmingham, England who commercialized the alloy in the 19th-century) is a great choice for its high ductility, electrical conductivity, and ease of welding. It is commonly found in hardware applications, elevator cab installations, door frames, heat exchangers and condensers, and a wide variety of interior and exterior architectural applications. Famously, Muntz Metal was used to sheath the hull of the clipper ship Cutty Sark, and figures prominently in the New York 9/11 Memorial
